Dr. Nainoca has a PhD (Env Conservation) from Massey University, NZ and Masters Env Science (Honors) from University of Wollongong, Australia. She got her BSc in Chemistry/Biology and Graduate Certificate of Education from University of the south Pacific.  Since Jan 2012, Winifereti has been at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Currently Environmental Specialist & Deputy Team Leader for Resilience & Sustainable Development Team (covering Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Disaster Management, Renewable & Efficient Energy & Environmental conservation) looking after 9 Pacific Island Countries. Currently there are about 50+ programmes and projects in various stages from formulation to implementation. Her last employment before joining UNDP was Head of School of General Studies (now School of Applied Science) from 2003 -2009 at Fiji Institute of Technology (now part of Fiji National University). Lectured in Natural Resource Management, Analytical Chemistry, Marine Ecology, Industrial Microbiology, Soil Science, Wastewater treatment, etc. Taught Science in high schools (1984-1988). Dr. Nainoca has served as an executive committee member of the Fiji Locally Managed Marine Area (FLMMA), has been the President Fiji Association of Women Graduates (FAWG) 2008-9 and was a member of Rewa Provincial Council.
